What to Pack

Attire Recommendation

Consider packing suitable attire depending on the time of year for your visit. In July, Kisoro experiences an average high temperature of around 24°C and an average low of 13°C. Footwear should include sports shoes, hiking boots, and flip-flops or slippers, with socks. If planning for Gorilla Trekking, sturdy boots are recommended for the muddy terrain. Daytime attire should consist of tee-shirts, quick-dry T-shirts, and hiking pants or trousers, while a light sweater may be necessary for evenings. It’s important to note that shorts are not considered appropriate, and dresses for women should be below the knee. Additionally, it’s advisable to bring an umbrella for sporadic rainfall.

What to Pack

Essential Kit List

Ensure you pack essential items for your trip, including water (readily available from local supermarkets), wipes and/or hand sanitizers, a hat, sunglasses, small musical instruments if you play one, strong sunscreen, chapstick/lip balm, a travel adapter plug if your devices are not designed for the local voltage (220V, same as in UAE), personal kit with toothbrush, etc., and personal medicines, snacks that are easy to prepare, a camera to capture moments, good walking shoes, and insect repellent. These items will be handy during your travels and ensure a comfortable experience.

What to Pack

Donation Items

If you have extra space available or would like to contribute supplies to the school and children, you can bring items such as coloring books, dry erase markers, markers and crayons, blocks and other developmental toys for young children, books, teaching aids like flip cards and posters, hair accessories for the girls, art supplies, soccer balls, and sand toys. Your donations will be greatly appreciated and will benefit the children and the school community.

Ineza Children’s Centre is a non-profit organization that was created in 2015 to address the needs of children in the Kisoro community by providing a range of services including primary education. The major project has been the Ineza Parents’ School that provides a spectacular primary education for 380 children. Kisoro is a poor district in an extremely poor country.

It is a place of considerable hardship, but also great joy, where deep religious faith, strong community ties, and a profound respect for education are the norm. Come see all they have accomplished and see how Gulf for Good is helping them grow!
